Business Analytics Master’s Degree and MBA Specialization Launched
By 2016, the online programs were booming. BusinessAnalytics@Syracuse, a master of science in business analytics degree, was launched. Designed to prepare students with the skills needed to become data-driven business leaders, it joined a new traditional, on-campus full-time program, the M.S. in business analytics.
In recent years, rapid growth in data generation has created great demand for professionals who can effectively harness, interpret and analyze data. The Bureau of Labor Statistics projects 27 percent growth in employment for the business analytics field by 2022 with demand continuing to grow as technology advances.
Whitman’s new interdisciplinary degree focuses on the use of business applications and analytic tools, reinforced with a practical curriculum for students to hone their business analytics knowledge and decision-making skills. Students complete core foundation courses in Data Analysis and Decision Making and Business Analytics, along with core application courses in Accounting Analytics, Financial Services Analytics, Marketing Analytics and Principles of Management Science.
BusinessAnalytics@Syracuse utilizes 2U’s cloud-based software-as-a-service technology platform. Students and faculty meet weekly through live online class sessions and students also complete immersive course content between classes, accessible both online and offline, on computers and mobile devices, from any location.
The degree consists of 36 credits and can be completed in 18 months. Each year, there are four start dates in January, April, July and October, with admissions decisions made on a rolling basis.
BusinessAnalytics@Syracuse added to Whitman’s already robust online business degree offerings, including MBA@Syracuse, a Master of Business Administration and Accounting@Syracuse, a Master of Science in Professional Accounting.
