Weisi Liu Selected for NSN Student Sales & Marketing Conference

Weisi 3Weisi Liu, one of our Whitman students, was selected as one of the 99 top students from across the United States to participate the NSN Student Sales & Marketing Conference in Atlanta. She will join the top talent representing more than 20 universities from across the nation for a three day hands-on marketing experience. Students who are accepted into this prestigious program will receive an all-expense paid trip to Atlanta. NSN will cover airfare, hotel, meals and conference registration fee.

I believe I will come back with the latest insights in marketing knowledge and hands on business practices that will benefit my career. I became aware of this opportunity through Whitman Weekly. I want to thank Whitman School for providing us this great opportunity and will do my best to add value to it,” a thrilled Weisi said.

For the application process, first she completed the online application including the resume. After she was pre-selected, they required her to respond to a set of essay questions. Next, she was selected to participate the Phone/Skype Interview with NSN conference team leads, who are prestigious sales and marketing professionals that represent many industries. The interview lasted approximately 45 minutes. Through the whole selection process, she demonstrated knowledge and skills in marketing management. The team leads were impressed by how comfortable she was with complexity and how adept she was at solving contingencies. According to Weisi, mental aptitude and tolerance was the key.

Before joining Whitman School of Management, she studied economics and management at Universidad de Chile, with bicentenary academic merit awarded to top 10% of class. She is currently a double major in marketing management and supply chain management at Whitman. She was named to the Dean´s List for the Fall 2014.

She has worked as Global Account Manager at ZTE Corporation Santiago to manage the project plans and timelines with the key account VTR Globalcom. In her free time she enjoys practicing simultaneous interpretation and participating intercultural communication activities. She has worked as interpreter for international trade exhibitions and translated bidding documents using English, Spanish and Chinese; volunteered as language teacher for the children, and as participant consultant at the XXI World Congress of Political Science, and was member of AIESEC – International Association of Students in Economic and Commercial Sciences.
