Why an MBA?

I decided to pursue an MBA because my ambitions exceeded the scope of my knowledge, so I needed to fill this gap. After doing some research, I realized that an MBA program would be the right fit for me.

 

Why Whitman?

Whitman was the perfect fit for my profile. The Whitman School offer courses on the global economy and business, provides an inspirational environment and gives me the opportunity to meet and work with talented peers from all over the world. In addition, Whitman provides unique experiential learning programs and opportunities for entrepreneurial experiences outside the classroom.

As an entrepreneur, I have developed a solid base in leadership, teamwork, analytical, and problem-solving skills. The academic experience in Whitman builds on my entrepreneurial skillset and my multi-cultural and multilingual background to prepare me for work as a professional in the real constantly globalizing business world.

 

What have you gained from your time at Whitman?

There are no right words to stress how important it is to prioritize tasks in your time-management. Apart from trying to thrive academically, I serve as a president of the Business Analytics Club, was elected the public relations manager for the Whitman Graduate Student Organization (WGSO) and intern for the Graduate Enrollment Management Office of Syracuse University. So, making right the decisions about priorities in the way I manage my time is the first thing I learned.

 

What is your most memorable moment from your time at Whitman?

 

I participated and got the first prizw at the Orange Tank Business Competition. It was a wonderful experience to compete with talented individuals and present my business pitch to accomplished judges in the industry.

 

Wining annual Orange Tank Pitch Competition. It was crazy and completely unexpected for someone who has been here for only 3 months to already get recognized for the hard work!

 

Internship?

I am happy to join Madison Square Garden Company for this summer ’18 as a Student Associate of Business Intelligence in department of IT insights & Analytics. This internship will provide me not only with hands-on experience on real-business-life data and analytics but also with an opportunity to learn from more experienced professiocals and mentors.

 

Are your goals or plans different since starting your MBA?

Not quite different, but rather more narrowed down.

 

What is your dream job?

It would be the one that gives me the right balance between flexibility and responsibilities as well as the feeling of putting my knowledge and experience for the right purpose.

Arielle Spears

Arielle served as content marketing manager for the Whitman School from 2016 - 2019. In this role, she supported Whitman’s overall marketing strategy through content development on digital channels, including websites and social media. After receiving her B.A. from Syracuse University, she went on to earn her M.S. in public relations from Syracuse’s S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications.
