Whitman School Appoints New Director of Experiential Programs

Syracuse University’s Martin J. Whitman School of Management announces the appointment of Erin Draper to the new position of director of experiential programs, effective Feb. 7, 2022.

Draper will oversee Whitman’s commitment to experiential programming, both on-campus and off-campus. She will manage and coordinate with Whitman’s stakeholders for programming in New York City and other locations globally, directly oversee company projects for project-based learning, coach students to represent Whitman at national competitions, and identify corporate partners with school-wide engagement. Draper will provide a strategic perspective on developing a pipeline of attractive and challenging programs and projects that will increase students’ applied experience, to offer transformational learning opportunities.

Draper is joining Whitman from Clarkson University where she was the founding managing director of Clarkson Ignite, a university-wide experiential innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem. Previously she was the director of the nationally recognized Reh Center for Entrepreneurship, which she co-founded in 2009. Draper currently serves on the North Country Regional Economic Development Council Innovation Working group, as a board advisor to CITEC Business Solutions, the board of directors for Canton-Potsdam Hospital and the board of directors for the St. Lawrence Health System.

“This is a vitally important strategic position for the School as we continue to expand on our commitment to offer valuable experiential programming opportunities to students. This is a defining feature of the Whitman experience and adding Erin to our team creates further high-impact experiential programming. Erin’s background and energy align closely with our aspirations to emphasize the role of experiential learning across all Whitman programs,” says Kevin Coates, executive director of administration and strategic initiatives.

Draper has a bachelor’s degree in business administration and technical communications, and an MBA from Clarkson University.
