“It truly keeps my confidence up when a faculty member goes above and beyond to recognize all different types of learning styles.”
“She makes the knowledge of finance accessible for the not so quantitative student.”
These were just some of the comments students made in nominating Whitman’s Assistant Teaching Professor of Finance Fatma Sonmez-Leopold for encouraging and showing compassion toward students while making finance accessible for those who may be struggling.
Syracuse University’s Center for Disability Resources (CDR) recognized 13 University members who went above and beyond for students during the past academic year. Sonmez-Leopold was among those nominated by students for work in advocating for students, as well as supporting CDR’s mission to empower, enhance equity and provide a platform for innovation and inclusion.
Sonmez-Leopold is honored to be recognized and grateful for the ability to share her passion for finance with all students.
