David_SpectorTop-100 law firm Akerman LLP announced that David I. Spector (pictured left), a member of the firm’s Executive Committee and co-chair of Akerman’s Fraud & Recovery Practice Group, was elected by a partnership vote to a 3-year term as the firm’s ninth chairman and CEO. Spector graduated in 1993 from the Whitman School and went on to earn his J.D. at The University of Miami School of Law in 1996.

Life Trustee Daniel A. D’Aniello ’69 Honored with Lone Sailor Award

daniello-4-28-19-pmThe Lone Sailor Award is presented by the USNMF to Sea Service veterans who have distinguished themselves, drawing upon their Sea Service experience, to become successful in their subsequent careers and lives while exemplifying the core values of honor, courage and commitment.  D’Aniello is chairman and co-founder of The Carlyle Group. In addition to his service to the University’s Board of Trustees, D’Aniello is a member of the Chancellor’s Council and the Whitman Advisory Council. He is a strong supporter of the Institute for Veterans and Military Families (IVMF). Learn more about the Lone Sailor Award and Mr. D’Aniello.

weddingKaitlynn Harvester Ihrke ’16 MBA married Nate Ihrke in April of this year. One of her favorite Whitman professors, John Petosa, officiated her intimate elopement ceremony. As a town justice in Camillus, New York, Petosa is empowered to perform marriage ceremonies. Her larger wedding featured even more Whitman connections, with Jim Vivenzio of the Whitman media department serving as photographer. Kaitlynn’s Whitman classmate Deedi Boland stood as witness and maid of honor at both ceremonies.


Alison Kessler

Alison Kessler is the alumni publications and outreach manager at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. She has amassed more than 20 years of experience in integrated marketing communications in the corporate, agency, not-for-profit, higher education and government sectors. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and mass communication and psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
