Daniel Montaigne ’95 has joined Laurel Road as VP of Business Development. Laurel Road is a leading online FinTech company focusing on reducing costs related to student loan debt and other consumer lending areas. Montaigne will be focusing on building partnerships and alliances with companies, educational institutions, and relevant organizations.

Thomas S. Bozzuto ’97 MBAwas named the Business Leader of the Year 2018 by Loyola Maryland Business School.

Whitman Alumna Jessica Santana ’11, G’13 and Her New York On Tech Co-founder Evin Floyd Robinson Named the 2018 Generation Orange Award Recipients: The Generation Orange Award is presented to young alumni who have made significant contributions to their communities and to the University. This year’s honorees are Evin Floyd Robinson ’12, G’14 and Jessica Santana ’11, G’13. Robinson and Santana are the cofounders of New York On Tech (NYOT), a nonprofit organization that provides greater access to technology and innovation to low-income and underrepresented students. NYOT offers immersive programs for high school students that include internship opportunities, mentoring and after-school educational programming. The pair will be honored during the Syracuse University Alumni Awards Celebration set to take place during Orange Central 2018. Patrick Smeeding ’12, a sales representative for Power Home Remodeling Group (PHRG), has achieved the Million Dollar Sales status for the past three years in Boston, Massachusetts. PHRG further recognized Smeeding at the award ceremony in Philadelphia with a generous donation to the memorial fund set up at UC Irvine in honor of his younger brother Joe Smeeding (Maxwell ‘13).

IN MEMORIAM:

Charles F. Schaffstall Sr., retired owner of a custom metal product manufacturing company and a nationally ranked senior athlete, died July 1 in his Orchard Park, New York, home at the age of 92.

 

 

Alison Kessler

Alison Kessler is the alumni publications and outreach manager at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. She has amassed more than 20 years of experience in integrated marketing communications in the corporate, agency, not-for-profit, higher education and government sectors. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and mass communication and psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
