Happy New Year!
We hope you enjoyed a wonderful holiday season with loved ones and 2018 is off to a great start for you!
At Whitman, we are readying for a new semester and looking forward to the energy our students bring to the building. Though the winter break provides an opportunity to rejuvenate before the start of new courses, many students spent the time between semesters working, interning or traveling. For more than 50 Whitman students, that travel was spent in the company of Whitman faculty and staff exploring careers in marketing, finance and real estate in New York City. Their venture included visits to companies and interaction with accomplished Whitman alumni who provided perspectives on the roles and responsibilities of various positions as well as the varying culture from firm to firm. We extend our sincere gratitude to the alumni who helped make the time in NYC invaluable for students.
These career exploration opportunities are just one way our alumni help enhance the Whitman experience for students. Through mentoring, reviewing resumes, speaking to classes and student groups, attending networking events, answering questions or being a sounding board for ideas, alumni help faculty and staff prepare students to be successful both at Whitman and in the business world.
To those of you who are part of the Whitman “village” of student support, we thank you. To those of you who have thought about getting involved, we hope 2018 will be the year! We can help you find ways to engage that fit your availability and interests.
And make sure you don’t miss any Whitman communications this year. Perhaps you’ve moved, changed email addresses or switched jobs? If so, it’s time to update your contact details and share your news. Here’s how.
We hope to see you soon on campus or at an SU event in your area (there are many great ones coming up on our events calendar). In the meanwhile, take care and go Orange!
