Dear Whitman Alumni: June Message from Cindie Adams

Whitman alumni play an integral role in the preparation and placement of our students. I would like to thank each of you who has demonstrated your commitment to Whitman by contributing to the professional development of our students this past academic year. Whether it was through mentoring, mock interviewing, resume reviewing, hosting students at your company, “rush hour” interviewing on campus or recruiting students for summer internships and full-time opportunities, your engagement positively and significantly impacted our students.

Many of you have welcomed us to your firm on one of our numerous career exploration trips throughout the year, including the Marketing Exploration Trip, Whitman On Wall Street, Retail Road Show, Frankel Scholars Program and our inaugural Whitman Women On Wall Street trip last month. Opportunities such as these not only give students an up-close view of various career options, they allow them to make professional connections, practice their networking skills and build confidence. “I thought the alumni reception was great,” shared a sophomore finance major in the Whitman Women on Wall Street group. “In the beginning I was pretty nervous, but, as time passed, I was able to become more comfortable in going up to alumni and introducing myself. Now, I know that I won’t be as nervous when it comes to networking with professionals at a future event.”

Commitment like that of the alumni who hosted Whitman Women on Wall Street participants and the hundreds of alumni who helped in a myriad of ways has led to even better placement numbers than last year. As strong as those numbers are, we still have work to do.

June is one of our best months for placement. With classes and final exams over for current students and diplomas in hand for our May graduates, we have an accomplished pool of candidates available for positions that need to be filled immediately. If you or your firm has an internship or full-time position open, please contact me directly, and I’ll facilitate providing potential candidates.

Thanks, again, for your continued support. The tie of our alumni to Whitman speaks volumes of the value you place on your time here, and we are grateful for your willingness to give back.

Best,

Cindie Adams
