You Can Support Class Act 2018 with a Matching Gift

In just a few weeks, we will welcome the newest Whitman graduates into the Orange alumni fold. Whether you gradated a year or decades ago, you no doubt have fond memories of that day. Transitioning from student to alum comes with anticipation, anxiousness and excitement. Like this year’s graduates, you likely didn’t realize then how important the Orange bond would be in this new phase of your life. I encourage you to show the strength of the SU alumni connection by supporting your newest fellow alums with a gift to the 2018 class gift campaign.

The Class Act Graduation Challenge promotes friendly competition across SU to see which school or college can claim the highest percentage of graduates who give to the class gift. The Whitman School has finished at the top of the leader board for the past three years, and this year’s Class Act Committee of 24 accomplished undergraduate and graduate students in the Class of 2018 is looking to extend that streak.

Class Act donations help provide students with cutting-edge programs, modern facilities, scholarships (75 percent of SU students receive some sort of financial assistance) and other advantages necessary for a first-class education. Tuition and fees cover only 85 percent of the real cost of an SU degree. Class Act gifts help bridge the gap. You can help this year’s student committee finish strong and in first place.

All Whitman alumni are encouraged to match a senior by donating $20.18 to this year’s campaign. If you don’t have a connection to a graduating student, please contact me at ahkessle@syr.edu and we can find a good match for…perhaps someone from your home state or major?

You can conveniently donate online. If you would like to honor a graduate with your contribution, simply add his/her name in the “My Gift Is a Tribute” section. You’ll see there are many ways to designate your gift.

You don’t have to match a student to give, and donations of any amount are appreciated. The collective giving by students, alumni, faculty and staff will help ensure an exceptional educational experience for current and future Whitman students.

Thank you for your consideration and support. Go Orange!

Regards,

Alison Kessler, Interim Executive Director of Alumni and Corporate Relations
