NEW POSITIONS AND PROMOTIONS:

Mel Stith ’73 MBA, ’78 Ph.D., former dean of the Whitman School, was appointed interim president of Norfolk State University, from which he received an undergraduate degree in 1968. Stith has served on the Norfolk State Board of Visitors since 2013 and as vice rector for the university since 2016.

Edwin J. Kelley, Jr. ‘ 81 M.S./J.D. has joined the Cazenovia College Board of Trustees. He will serve on the finance and investment committees.

Christopher P. Tirabassi, CMPE ’84 has joined Medical Health Associates of Western New York (MHA) as Chief Executive Officer. MHA operates the largest pediatric primary care practice in Western New York with over fifty pediatric clinicians and approximately two hundred staff in seven offices.

Michael Chung ’92: Director of Information Technology, Boies Schiller Flexner LLP

Elizabeth Gula ’92 was recently promoted to Director, Global Head of Customer Experience Transformation at Barclaycard.

David Smartt ’97 MBA, an assistant professor of business in Lee’s School of Business was awarded tenure.

Roger Wood ’92 MBA has been named the new CEO and Chairman of the Board for Fallbrook Technologies Inc.

Stephen Wallace ’93 has joined the faculty of the Syracuse University School of Information Studies (iSchool) as a professor of practice, teaching courses in support of the iSchool’s programs in data science and data analytics.

Joseph P. Bentz ’97 MBA was selected as the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Army (Management and Budget) in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Army for Civil Works.

Joshua Goodman ’97 made the move the move to Facebook, after 7 years at Apple, to lead Global Reporting for Procure To Pay.

Katherine Desy ’15 recently joined UK-based Corporate Rewards as the company’s first US-based Digital Client Services Manager.

AWARDS AND ACCOLADES:

Darryl Schaffer ’88 currently serves as the chair of Screenvision Media’s exhibitor advisory panel. For her contributions to the industry, Box Office named her one of its leading ‘Women in Exhibition and Distribution,’ and she was also named one of Celluloid Junkie’s ‘Top 50 Women in Global Cinema’ for 2017. Most recently, she was inducted in the ShowEast Hall of Fame, Class of 2017.


Nate Contanch ’12
, founder of Zia Green Chile Company, was included in Brooklyn magazine’s “30 Under 30” Class of 2018. According to the publication, these annual lists “highlight young Brooklynites who are marching fearlessly into the future, taking the borough with them―wherever they go.”

 

 

 

ON CAMPUS:

Rick Fedrizzi ’87 MBA, CEO and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International WELL Building Institute,™ will speak on campus on April 24 as part of the Syracuse University Lecture series. A Syracuse native, Fedrizzi received an Arents Award for Excellence in Sustainability Innovation in 2011.

MERGERS & ACQUISITIONS:

Philip Robino ‘03 is happy to announce his engagement to Nadinne Fayad. They plan to wed in November of 2018 in Mexico.

Alison Kessler is the alumni publications and outreach manager at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. She has amassed more than 20 years of experience in integrated marketing communications in the corporate, agency, not-for-profit, higher education and government sectors. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and mass communication and psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
