Dear Whitman Alumni: October Message from Cindie Adams

CindieAdams_185x240Hello Whitman Alumni,

You are an integral part of the Whitman community. Alumni support and engagement significantly enhance the educational experiences of our students. Many of you stay connected and give back through mentorship, speaking in classes, sitting on career panels, hosting students at your companies, serving on advisory boards and gifting to the school, to name a few. Time and again, we hear stories about alumni who go out of their way to give guidance and open doors for our students. The value of the orange alumni bond is truly immeasurable, and we are grateful for your commitment.

Orange Central Homecoming 2015 is a wonderful way to make, renew or strengthen bonds with classmates, favored faculty and staff who helped shepherd you through your time on the hill. In addition to the wonderful activities the University has planned, Whitman is offering two great events you don’t want to miss. Reserve your spot soon!

In addition to coming back to campus for homecoming, you can strengthen your alumni bond and build your professional network by participating in Whitman and SU alumni club activities. There are two Whitman alumni clubs, the Whitman Alumni Club of CNY and WhitmanNYC.

The Whitman Club of CNY offers a full calendar of social events, such as tailgating parties and dinner theater, as well professional development activities, service projects and a scholarship program to support Whitman students. Information about all the club offers and the value of membership can be found at

WhitmanNYC focuses on providing meaningful networking opportunities and professional programming. Social events, such as the annual Dinosaur Bar-B-Que Picnic in Central Park, Scotch and Cigars night and wine tastings, as well as community service events, speakers and mentorship offer members a range of opportunities to learn, contribute and connect. For further information, visit the club online at

You really can find Orange alumni practically everywhere on the globe. The University has an online listing of its 44 domestic clubs and a listing of international SU alumni contacts who coordinate events and gatherings.

I encourage you to join Whitman’s LinkedIn group if you haven’t, yet. It is a great way to stay up to date on all the great things happening at your alma mater.

I hope you enjoy the October issue of Whitman Alumni Connections. As always, your feedback and suggestions are welcomed and appreciated.
