The Whitman Alumni Club of Central New York honors four Martin J. Whitman School of Management students with excellence awards.

Whitman’s Xinye Zou, Diana Correia and Alexa Cloud received Russell J. Hamilton Scholarship Awards, named for former Whitman School assistant dean, Russ Hamilton. These awards are presented annually to students who have made a lasting contribution to Syracuse University and Whitman, been an active member of the community and demonstrated academic excellence. Each recipient is presented with a $1,000 scholarship.

Whitman’s Richard Lewis, a student entrepreneur, received the Syracuse University Student CNY Business Award for his startup, StudentTicket. Similar to a credit card, StudentTicket allows users to save money by offering automatic discounts at local businesses when the StudentTicket card is presented.  Lewis works with the Couri Hatchery, Whitman’s business incubator, which helps more 130 startups to manage and build their businesses.

The SU Student CNY Business Award was developed to support student businesses that intend to stay local. In cooperation with Whitman’s Falcone Center for Entrepreneurship, the award provides cash, pro-bono services, office space and additional resources to assist the winner in growing their business, such as human resources and legal assistance.

The Whitman Alumni Club of New York City helps alumni stay connected and offers various opportunities to socialize, network, learn and give back.
