WISE.Unplugged1The WISE Symposium will celebrate its 14th year with the “WISE Unplugged” event on Tuesday,  April 19, at SKY Armory in Syracuse, New York. Entrepreneurs, students and community leaders are invited to come together to network and learn from successful women business leaders and entrepreneurs. The one-day conference will feature keynote speaker Pam Sherman, nationally-syndicated columnist, attorney, actor, writer, and leadership consultant. Her keynote presentation—Leadership with an EDGE—will focus on the core skills of leadership required for women to fulfill their own vision of success as entrepreneurs. The WISE Women’s Business Center will host a Connections Café on site and will conduct one-on-one counseling appointments with conference attendees throughout the day. For WhitmanNYC Members: 2016 Real Estate Opportunities in the Development, Equity and Debt Markets

Members of WhitmanNYC are invited to SU’s Fisher Center on Wednesday, May 18, to hear New York City real estate executives discuss the city’s development cycle, current structured debt market, trends in the CMBS markets and the condo development market. Panelists will include David Schwartz ’99, co-founder and principal, Slate Property Group; Bradley A. Settleman ’85, partner, Tall Pines Capital, Chris LaBianca ’92, MD and head of origination, Real Estate Finance – UBS. The breakfast and networking session will begin at 7:30 a.m. followed by the panel discussion beginning promptly at 8:00 a.m. Make your reservations today.

Save the Date: Orange Central Homecoming 2016 and Whitman Events

Orange Central Homecoming 2016 is set for September 15-18 with a gridiron matchup between the Orange and the Bulls of South Florida. Whitman is pleased to announce two events as part of this year’s Orange Central festivities. On Thursday evening, September 15, we will hold the annual Jonathan J. Holtz Awards Ceremony to honor several distinguished alumni and friends of Whitman who consistently and generously support our mission with time, talent and treasure. We are excited for the return of the Orange Tank business pitch competition to be held Friday afternoon, September 16. Like last year, we’ll welcome entrants in two categories—alumni and student start-ups—with accomplished alumni judging each competition. More details about Whitman events will be shared in the coming months. For general homecoming details, visit http://orangecentral.syr.edu.

Alison Kessler

Alison Kessler is the alumni publications and outreach manager at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University. She has amassed more than 20 years of experience in integrated marketing communications in the corporate, agency, not-for-profit, higher education and government sectors. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism and mass communication and psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
