Dear Whitman Alumni: Message from Cindie Adams

CindieAdams_185x240It’s February, and that means we’re just three short months from May commencement. While many who are graduating from Whitman have secured a professional post after graduation, some are still searching for a company where they can put their talents to work. Whether you were the earlier or the latter in this scenario in your last semester at Whitman, you can certainly recall the excitement—and angst—of the possibilities ahead. Our loyal and dedicated alumni play a key role in Whitman’s success in the placement of future business leaders. I would like to ask for your continued help as many deserving students make their final push for placement.

As many of you know, I am currently serving as the interim Executive Director of Career Services for the Whitman School of Management. As we search for the ideal candidate to take over the helm, this has been an invaluable time for me to work with our dedicated and experienced team of career development professionals who have made extraordinary progress in the placement of our recent graduates.  For our Class of 2016 undergraduates and graduates, we achieved a placement rate of 90% and 75%, respectively, which represents an increase of 5% and 8% from 2015. Much of those gains can be attributed to the commitment of our alumni to recruit and mentor our students.

The goal for our Class of 2017 is to exceed last year’s placement statistics. We can’t do this without you. Please consider Whitman students for internship and full-time positions within your firm. Whatever the position or industry, the Whitman Career Services team has someone who would be happy to work with you to put one of our accomplished students to work:

Adam Capozzi, Corporate Development & Recruitment Coordinator; Areas of focus include on-campus recruiting, database management, and corporate/alumni events. Email: afcapozz@syr.edu

Sue Clayton, Senior Recruiting Specialist; Responsible for managing the campus-recruiting program and the related systems and database, including job fairs and OrangeLink internship and job postings. Email: srclay01@syr.edu

Kristen DeWolf, Associate Director, Corporate Engagement & Career Development; Specializes in support for students majoring in Retail Management, Supply Chain Management, and Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises as well as oversight of the on-campus interviewing program and corporate events. Email: kbdewolf@syr.edu

Katheryn Graham, Administrative Specialist; Responsibilities include office management and budget coordination. Email: kgraham@syr.edu

Michael LaMarche, Assistant Director, Career Education & Professional Development; Works with students who are seeking careers in Finance and Real Estate. Email: mjlamarc@syr.edu

Kara Primrose, Associate Director for Corporate Engagement & Career Development; Focuses on students majoring in Accounting and Management. Email: kprimros@syr.edu

Alicin Welsh: Assistant Director for Career Education and Professional Development; Alicin is the newest member of our team, and has assumed the role of working with Whitman Marketing majors. Email: aawelsh@syr.edu

Please feel free to reach out to any of our team members or me. We are working together diligently to reach our 2017 placement goals and would welcome and appreciate your support.

Thank you!

Cindie Adams, Executive Director for Alumni & Corporate Relations and Interim Executive Director of Career Services  csadams@syr.edu
